In the video link below, I work with Lorinda, a writer, helping her to explore some of her blocks around 'getting down to work' and feeling more comfortable and secure in her creative practice. I use different OEI techniques almost every day in my therapy and clinical hypnosis work with people who are experiencing anxiety, compulsive behaviours, and trauma-related symptoms of many different kinds. Think about how what you see makes you feel--watching a scary or romantic movie, seeing a child run towards a busy street, noticing a shadowy figure behind you . . . Because of the eye-brain connection, working with the eyes, one at a time, is a helpful, sometimes transformative way of working with and processing intense emotions and sensations. As long as your eyes are healthy, and you do not have DID (dissociative identity disorder), try this at home. If you do have DID, please be aware that eye-switching can bring up your alters more quickly than usual. When you fully cover one eye, notice emotion and sensation, then cover the other eye, you will often become aware of a big difference between one side and the other. Switching eyes (and other techniques) help us to 'share' and integrate this material to different brain areas.
